How to make free calls from Computer to mobile / land line

Making free voice calls from the internet is not a new concept. Previously, Yahoo was the pioneer of the voice call service via their IM (Instant Messenger) - Yahoo Messenger. Free voice calls from PC to PC (Computer to Computer ) are easily available on the internet in this modern day and age. But it is hard to find free service (s) or free voice calls from the PC (Computer) to mobile phones or land lines. But one thing to keep in mind is that maximum services are in the beta version and allow only USA and Canadian users to call free from PC to mobile phones. This list brings the free phone call applications that allow both PC to phone programs and phone to phone programs. Simply put, your computer or mobile internet will connect your real phone number to another real phone number for free and long distance plans will be rendered unnecessary.

Method to make free calls from Computer to mobile / land line:-

You have to download free software from the service provider's online portal to make a free call using an Internet phone or PC. In order to make a free voice call to mobile phones and land lines through the internet, it needs to have a VOIP (Voice over Internet Protocol) software installed on the phone or PC. But it needs to be kept in mind that free internet phones don’t support the kind of emergency calls (100, 911, 108, 106 numbers for example) that can be made from mobile phones or traditional landlines. 

1. Google Voice free phone call service:-

Google Incorporation has introduced Google Voice on September 2011. It has become the most popular internet voice call service after Skype (PC to mobile/landline phone calls from Skype are part of a paid service). With Google Voice, anyone can make free phone calls to anywhere in the USA and Canada. However you must use the Google Talk browser plugin for free PC to phone calls.  

It can be used to intelligently route incoming calls from your free phone number provided by Google Voice to any other phone you have, or others of your choice. Google Voice also offers free outgoing SMS services, free conference calls and free voice mail services from anywhere around the globe. Google Voice is presently in the beta version for free voice calls to mobile phones and landlines within USA and Canada. 

Google voice for mobile internet users:-

Google Voice is also available as a mobile app which can be used with any browser including mobile browsers. The Google Voice app is available on Google Play and Apple store.

Limitation :-

The only limitation of Google Voice is a time restriction. A user can use the service continuously for three hours at a stretch before getting auto-cut. They simply have to connect to the same number to continue the free call.

2. iCall free phone call service:-

To make free calls with iCall, one just has to download free software from its website and install in their computer or mobile phone. Keep in mind that though the computer from where you are calling may be anywhere around the globe, the mobile or land line number has to be within the USA or Canada. You can call outside the two countries on paying a few bucks.

Mobile internet users can use the iCall voice call service via its mobile app which is available on Google play and Apple store.

Limitation :-

iCall’s limitation is that every free phone call will be disconnected after the short interval of five minutes. But the same number can be redialed as many times as the user wants. Interestingly, an advertisement of around 10 seconds will be shown during each interval of free call. Limitation :-

EvaPhone allows users only 2 calls per day per unique phone number. A short video advertisement will be shown after dialing the targeted phone number but there is a stop watch which counts down the calling period and disconnection duration.

Computer to computer voice call service has become the most popular form of communication around the globe but my above list is based only on PC to mobile /land line (real telephone) calls. There are numerous software and programs that allow users free PC to PC calls such as Skype, Yahoo Voice, Windows Live Messenger etc. Skype is the best for free PC to PC voice calls as well as video calls. Skype also has the phone call option but users have to pay for the use of this service.
