The Camera App, the Sony Xperia Honami Interface Is Ported to Xperia Z

Earlier today we were telling you that the Camera app of the unannounced Sony Xperia Honami has been unofficially ported to the Xperia Z flagship. Well, here we are a couple of hours later and we here that the new Sony Xperia Honami interface that was caught in some screenshots also got ported on the flagship smartphone of the Japanese company.

Just like the Samsung Galaxy S4 and HTC One has received some custom ROMs that bring the Galaxy S4 Google Edition and HTC One Google Edition features on the original models, today the Sony Xperia Z receives a similar treatment by getting some of the user interface elements that will debut with the Xperia Honami, a new smartphone that will most likely run Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean out of the box with an improved Xperia UI.

The rumor mill has been very busy talking about the Sony Xperia Honami over the past few weeks, a camera phone developed by the Japan-based phone maker which is set to bring the Cybershot brand back to life. A part of the software running on the Sony Xperia Honami has leaked online a couple of days ago, then some skilled devs managed to get it ported on the Xperia Z.

I can’t help but notice the presence of an improved and reworked user interface, especially when it comes to the camera app. The background of the Holo apps is a reminiscent of the Xperia Z interface, but it lacks that specific texture and it has a bit of “noise” added in the dark background of the application.

The roboto font is used all over the interface, well, except for some widgets, while the Android-specific software buttons and the other buttons of the interface received a new look. The sliders and the toggles kept the same metallic look, but received new accents, while the tabs are now in 3D. The transition animation when are now more evolved, but they do not depart to much from the Xperia Z interface animations.

Rumor has it that the Sony Xperia Honami will be a camera phone that will boast a 20 megapixel camera, a smartphone that will take on Samsung’s recently launched Galaxy S4 Zoom. Even though the handset developed by the South Korean company comes with mid-range technical specs (4.3-inch display with 540 x 960 pixels resolution, 1.5 GB of RAM, and dual-core 1.5 GHZ processor) the 16 megapixel mounted on its back has 10x optical zoom, making it a veritable camera phone.

While the major selling point of the Samsung Galaxy S4 Zoom is its 16 megapixel camera, the Sony Xperia Honami has other things to impress you with besides its 20 megapixel sensor. Well, at least if the rumors that made the headlines are accurate.

The rumor mill speculates that the Sony Xperia Honami will sport a 5-inch display with full HD resolution, which will fit perfectly in the trend on the 2013 smartphone market. Moreover, the Sony terminal will be powered by one of the most powerful processors on the market: Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 800 chipset based on four Krait 400 cores clocked at 2.2 GHz and Adreno 330 GPU.

There aren’t more Xperia Honami details available at the time, but we promise you we will return with more, as soon as they hit the web. Oh, I almost forgot. Sources say that the new camera phone will debut on June 4th, when Sony will host a press event in Paris.
