EMC Collaborates with Cloud Service Providers to Target the $1 billion Opportunity in India

At the annual EMC Forum 2014 in New Delhi, EMC Corporation announced that the company is enabling hybrid cloud solutions with key Cloud Service Providers in the India market.

India remains a high-growth market within the region, EMC plans to target 200 cloud customer deployments in 12 months for its cloud solutions across Asia Pacific and Japan. According to Greyhound Research, the addressable Cloud market in India is expected to hit the $1 billion mark by 2015. This massive growth is being driven by the advent of social, mobile, analytics, and cloud (SMAC) and its quick transition from being a mere buzzword to impacting the delivery of business outcomes for enterprises.

EMC announced collaboration with cloud service providers Netmagic and Sungard AS to offer customers a consolidated, customer-focused approach to designing, architecting, and running a hybrid cloud to deliver the speed and agility of public cloud services, with the control and security of private cloud infrastructures. The collaboration will focus on customers in manufacturing, healthcare, retail, BFSI and IT/ ITES sectors.

Collaboration with Netmagic combines Netmagic’s SimpliCloud, their public cloud offering, an enterprise-grade IaaS (Infrastructure as-a-Service) cloud platform with EMC hybrid cloud and VMware virtualization solutions. In addition, EMC will power the Sungard AS Recovery-as-a-Service offering for disaster recovery.

“Cloud has a particular strategic importance in the Indian market. As per our 2014 EMC Survey with IT decision makers, around three quarters of the IT decision makers in India (76%) believe that a combination of public and private cloud services allows for a higher level of agility and security, and 31% have already deployed hybrid cloud.”

- Rajesh Janey, President, India and SAARC EMC

According to Gartner, rapid cloud adoption by a range of organizations has encouraged providers to invest in high-quality data centers and innovative cloud infrastructures and services. Typical use cases for the cloud in India include disaster recovery as a service, e-business Web hosting, industry-specific applications and collaboration.
