Own a Moto G? Cool, then here’s is a tutorial on how to update your phone to Android Lollipop 5.0.

As Google promised to give an update for Moto series, we can expect an OTAupdate from it. Few Globally unlocked phones got the update already but many didn’t. Here is an “How to guide” to experience Android Lollipop 5.0 on your Moto G (Falcon) without getting an official OTA update. All you need is a PC, files given in links and a little courage.

Caution: Before you update to Lollipop 5.0, you need to Flash the Stock ROM (Kitkat 4.4) of GPE (Google play edition)_Brazilian version. And make sure that you have enough battery and a back-up of your data (not mandatory) before putting leg into this.

mfastboot flash partition gpt.bin mfastboot flash motoboot motoboot.img mfastboot flash logo logo.bin mfastboot flash boot boot.img mfastboot flash recovery recovery.img mfastboot flash system system.img_sparsechunk.0 mfastboot flash system system.img_sparsechunk.1 mfastboot flash system system.img_sparsechunk.2 mfastboot flash modem NON-HLOS.bin mfastboot erase modemst1 mfastboot erase modemst2 mfastboot flash fsg fsg.mbn mfastboot erase cache mfastboot erase userdata mfastboot reboot

Now your phone will boot with Brazilian Firmware and your device is all set to install android lollipop in it.

Step 6:

This may take around 10-15 minutes. Be patient. Reboot the device and it is ready

Round Up

This makes your phone convert to Google play edition and cannot be degradable. You will receive further updates like GPE’s if any. Few Indian variants are facing some issues with network problems after flashing this. However it can be fixed by simply Google-ing about it. After your completed installing Android Lollipop Android 5.0 on Moto G, you should again root it. However this is optional.
