Should I Buy An Off Brand Tablet from Market

You might’ve seen a commercial for Internet bidding sites that offer tablet computers for $3. It seems like a great deal but when the package finally arrives instead of an iPad you’ve got an iSore. While Apple’s iPad, Samsung’s Galaxy and the Kindle Fire are the big names in tablet PC’s, there are plenty of off-brand tablets out there at about a quarter of the price. Obviously the off brand tablets aren’t going to have every feature that you’d find in an iPad but do they have enough to make the purchase worthwhile?

What Do Off-Brand Tablets Have

Depending on what you’re in to, an off-brand tablet could be suffice for your mobile PC computing needs. Most tablets are a bare-boned version of their competitors with the ability to surf the Internet, play games, listen to music etc. Also, many off brand tablets are the same size, weight, and specs as their competitors so you at least won’t have to suffer in screen width. In essence, an off-brand tablet is perfect for minimal activity like surfing the web or playing games comfortably throughout your WIFI connected home.

What Off-Brand Tablets Lack

Even though off-brand tablets are the same size as their competitors physically, the internal sizes are lacking. Off-brand tablets lack the processing time and download speeds as the big boys. Also, the free space to store music and other data is usually a quarter the size in an off-brand tablet. Furthermore, while off-brand tablets do offer some games and apps, they don’t have access to the huge libraries of the Apple Store or Samsung. Another thing that limits the popularity of an off-brand tablet is the fact that the screen resolution pales in comparison to the industry leaders and also the battery life is far less. Add to that the fact that off-brand tablets are made by companies like TabCo or Jim’s Tablet Outlet, which results in minimal or even non-existent tech support.

Off-Brand Tablet Intangibles

The #1 factor that makes off-brand tablets a feasible buy is the price. At a mere $100 or less, these ‘generic’ devices are perfect as stated earlier to browse the Internet on the go. Also, off-brand tablets are perfect for kids to play action and learning games while getting accustomed to taking proper care of their electronic devices for an iPad or Samsung Galaxy in the future.
In the end, the choice of purchasing an off-brand tablet is solely up to the buyer. If your computing needs are minimal or you just want an extra way to surf the ‘net around the house, an off-brand tablet is perfect as a ‘time waster.’ On the other hand, if you rely on processing speed and use your tablet for professional reasons, it might be best to go with a supplier besides Jim’s Tablet Outlet.
