Google announces Android Device Manager – Lets you track your phone in case you lose it

In this post I will talk about the Android Device Manager that has been announced by Google today.
Losing a shiny new and awesome droid is painful isn’t it?
I understand and I can relate to it. But don’t worry now.
Enter, the Android Device Manager which lets you track your phone in case you lose it. It also lets you find the phone if you kept it somewhere in your house and forgot where you kept it.
You can just ring the phone at the maximum volume even if it is in silent mode and voila!

Track your device

As I already mentioned this before, the Android Device Manager lets you track your phone via two means mainly. One of which is by ringing the phone and other is by tracking down it’s location in real time.

Secure your personal data

In case you are not able to track your phone, you can remotely wipe the whole phone and it will delete all the data on the device thereby securing your personal information.

Availability

This new tool from Google will be available later this month on Android devices running version 2.2 and above. To use these features you will need to be signed into your Google account on your phone and there will be an Android app to manage your devices as well.
