HTC One is in discussion again. A company executive name Jason Mackenzie confirmed that the device will be upgraded to Android 4.3. His tweet on this topic reads, “Lots of questions re 4.3 release for One. We r wrking hard (needs cert) to release 4.3 across all US, Canada skus by end Sept. DNA as well.”
The update will be rolled out in USA and Canada. Nothing has been mentioned on when the update will arrive and whether it will arrive in other countries. A lot of Brits own the device; they will be seriously pissed off if the update doesn’t roll out in UK. According to some sources however, HTC One versions that are not locked by the network operator could get the update shortly.
In United States, carriers like AT&T, T-Mobile and Sprint Nextel may skirt Android 4.2 update for bringing Android 4.3 straight to users. Hence, US consumers should pick HTC One as soon as the update rolls in.
HTC confirming Android 4.3 update for its flagship One could renew consumer’s interest in the brand. HTC One X, HTC One S and HTC One Mini are some of the HTC One variants. Those devices will be in the pipeline to get Android 4.3 update once HTC One gets it.
HTC is apparently working on rolling out the Android 4.3 Jelly Bean update for the HTC One and HTC Droid DNA by the end of September.
HTC’s president of global sales Jason Mackenzie posted a short message on Twitter confirming as much, although he did not reveal any roll out dates, or plans for other regions than North America. Moreover, the exec did not mention Android 4.3 update plans for any of its older smartphones at this time, referring strictly to these two flagship devices.
In his short message (below), he said that the all HTC One versions in the USA and Canada, and the HTC Droid DNA (Verizon exclusive) will get Android 4.3 by the end of September.
Just earlier, we heard that the HTC One developer edition will skip Android 4.2 in favor of Android 4.3, but it now looks like carrier-branded HTC Ones will also receive their appropriate updates soon.
