Worlds Thinnest Smartphone the Huawei Ascend P6 star in a hands-on

At some point the battle will have to end but the leader now with the World’s thinnest smartphone is Huawei with the Ascend P1 S. The Ascend P1 S is a 6.88 mm Android phone that at this point of CES is the thinnest but may not survive the week with that title with others to come.

The new Android device is not only thin but has some pretty impressive specs to go with it.

Huawei Ascend P1 S Features:
Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich
1.5GHz TI OMAP4460 processor
4.3 inch Super AMOLED screen
960×540 screen resolution with Gorilla Glass
8MP rear facing camera
1.3MP front facing camera

It looks like the release date of this device is to be April 2012 with a few colors to choose from. While Huawei is still a small name brand in the Android battle they have consistently come out with competitive devices and may soon be in the top brands in 2012.

Huawei Ascend P6 is widely advertised as the world’s slimmest smartphone to date. Indeed there is no thinner smartphone in our database so far and we just had to see it live. And here it is – the Ascend P6 knocking on our office doors.

Huawei Ascend P6 is powered by company’s home-brewed chipset – the K3V2 – featuring a quad-core 1.5GHz Cortex-A9 processor, a 16-core unnamed graphics unit and 2GB of RAM. We’ve already met this configuration within the Ascend Mate phablet and we know it performs very well on a 720p screen.

The Huawei Ascend P6 is certainly the slimmest smartphone we’ve seen so far, but it doesn’t stop there. The phone is really beautiful – it has a cool textured back imitating metal that looks really classy. Our only issues with the design is the metallic framing that covers the side which does resemble the iPhone’s profile a bit too closely.

No more teasing, here comes our hands-on video.

We are already working on our in-depth review and so you might want to keep an eye on our homepage next week.
